MATHS ACTIVITIES FOR 2 YEARS OLD

A 2 years old can learn mathematical skills through play and practice. Play is one thing a child is not taught, he/she just start and flow into playing naturally. While practice on the other hand is to keep doing until it becomes part of the child.
There are a lot of things a 2 years old should know and fun ways to learn the basic mathematical skills base on his/her level. To achieve this time, dedication and passion need to find it root in your heart toward your child or pupil.

NUMBERS

At age 2, an average child should be able to;
1.       Use number words 1 and 2, may not understand the numbers quantity.
2.       Understand the words 1 and 2 that is, distinguish 1 and 2 from other numbers.
3.       Count number 1 to 3 verbally it may not be in correct order.  A few 2 year old may even be able   to count in the correct order up to "5".
4.       Some children can use correctly the word "many" and "same" when comparing items.

ACTIVITIES

11.       Sing number rhymes to your child, dance and demonstrate using (fingers, cups, flash cards etc). Note that it is best you don’t go beyond number 5; in fact stop at 3 until he/she can use 1 and 2, proceed to the next. It should be a daily routine.

Note: children loves colors, so it should be in different colored cut out card papers.
44.       Play comparison games with your child using items like colored pencils (not sharpened please), building blocks, and multicolor plastic spoons and so on. Place items in sequentially, using numbers from 1 to 3 and repeat same on the other parallel side in same colors.
